Willow Village | A miniature settlement of an unknown species
Willow Village is a project that I have been working on for the last couple of months. A miniature town with little houses, built from twigs and leaves. Where small creatures live, that collect findings and store nuts.
With this project I wanted to challenge myself, to create a photorealistic visual effects sequence from scratch without any stock assets. The video was shot with a Samsung S10 Plus on a gimble. And later on, 3D-tracked using Syntheyes. The village was built in 3Ds Max. By creating 3D models of day-to-day items and using these as building blocks for the structures. This kept everything grounded in reality. For things like twigs, walnuts and other objects that occur in nature, I used 3D scanning. The video is later on composited in After Effects and finished in Premiere.
